Jay Sonza Bashed for Statement about ‘Success’ of SMNI Presidential Debate

Veteran broadcaster Jay Sonza talked about the “success” of the presidential debate that the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) organized.

Because of this, Sonza once again became a trending topic on social media. Several times already, he topped the Twitter trends list because of his controversial statements, especially when it comes to politics. There were several times also when Sonza became a trending topic on Twitter because of his fiery words against certain celebrities.

Based on the art card that SMNI released online, Sonza expressed happiness over the success of the recently concluded presidential debate. He also congratulated religious leader Apollo Quiboloy who owns the said network.

Sabi ko nga kay Pastor (Quiboloy), for us industry people, it takes about 5-10 years to establish the credibility of a network but you did it in one night,” Jay Sonza said.

With this, the veteran broadcaster said that he is congratulating the religious leader. Sonza stressed that if the intention is good, “there is no room for error.” He also said that the event was professionally done and so the result was good.

This statement of the veteran broadcaster did not sit well with many netizens. Social media users were questioning Sonza how he could have said this without basis. There were also netizens who posted news stating the Quiboloy is on the wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Other netizens shared the statement from a BBC correspondent in the Philippines who called out SMNI for using the British media entity’s video without permission that was shown for the debate’s opening billboard.
