MANNY PACQUIAO – The presidential candidate and incumbent Senator wants to regulate e-sabong in the Philippines.

Undeniably, in the Philippines, a lot of people are fond of playing games wherein they have chances of growing their money like betting on something. It can be related to sports or other activities. However, some of these activities are surrounded by issues and are yet to be regulated.

One of these activities is the online sabong or “e-sabong”. A lot of Filipinos most especially men who are into fighting cocks join the online sabong. Prior to the pandemic, there are really venues for these activities but it was moved on the online platform when the country implemented community quarantine measures.

However, the issues surrounding the e-sabong raise the possibility that it will be banned in the country. To this, Sen. Manny Pacquiao does not agree.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, presidential candidate and incumbent Sen. Manny Pacquiao is willing to join the investigation of the Senate on the issues surrounding e-sabong. According to him, he wants the regulations to be laid down so it will be regulated.

The Senator stressed that he is against this gaming but it must be studied. He stressed that there are other games that can be compared with e-sabong but they are permitted. He wants the treatment to be fair and to just regulate e-sabong as a balance with other gaming.

“I-regulate lang ng gobyerno nang hindi ‘yung mga bata malulong,” he said.

Sen. Pacquiao stressed that it is important to guide the youth and educate them that engaging in such gaming is not good. The PROMDI standard-bearer wants minors aged 15 years old and below to be banned from joining e-sabong.
