Filipino Educator Charles Darwin Magdaluyo Awarded as “Teacher of the Year” in Florida
A Filipino educator named Charles Darwin Magdaluyo has been hailed as “Teacher of the Year” at Duval county in Florida.
The Pinoy teacher Charles Darwin Magdaluyo was born and raised Manila, Magdaluyo. He is a graduate of the Philippine Normal University and came to US through an exchange teacher program.
Magdaluyo is teaching human anatomy and physiology at the Jean Ribault High School in Jacksonville, Florida. The educator is working at the school for over three years and shown dedication to his job.
The educator bought a brand new jeepney as a gift to his beloved father during his first year of teaching in Florida. He is also supporting his younger sister who is taking up medicine at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
“Nakita ko talaga ‘yung struggle nila just to raise us. Kaya rin sobrang pursigido kaming mag-aral at makapagtapos sa state universities, dahil alam naming ‘yung hirap ng parents naming pagdating sa pag-aaral,” Magdaluyo said.
The Filipino teacher still prefers personal classes rather than distance learning method. It was comfortable for him to teach his students via face-to-face classes.
Eventually, Magdaluyo got surprised has been hailed as the 2022 Vystar Teacher of the Year out of 180 other nominees at Duval county in Florida. He received a Honda Elantra by the Jenkins Auto Group during the awarding ceremony. He also received several cash certificates.
“Go to the teaching profession not because you want to earn more but go to the teaching profession because you want to be of service so you can change the lives of your students,” Magdaluyo added.
