Large Amount of Money Allegedly Offered for Vote-Buying – PPCRV

PPCRV Exposes Info of Large Amount of Money offered for Vote-Buying

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) exposes the information they received that a large amount of money is being offered for vote-buying.

PPCRV says it has received evidence that substantial sums of money are being offered to buy votes in the 2022 election. PPCRV chairwoman Myla Villanueva told the ANC that electoral fraud was taking place even before the polls opened.

According to PPCRV, there are several difficulties with vote-buying, but they are extremely difficult to catch and will be reported. In fact, Villanueva said, they’re hearing a lot of significant figures being given to people and families.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) had earlier encouraged the public to report any cases of vote-buying now that the campaign season for national and municipal elections is in full swing, and he added the council still needed more volunteers to properly monitor the conduct of the elections.

James Jimenez, a Comelec spokesman, asked the public to film the vote-buying incident and to register a complaint. The fight against vote-buying, according to Jimenez, is the most essential part of the struggle.

“Kapag kayo nakakita ng instances ng vote buying, meron po kayong puwedeng gawin. Puwede po kayong magdokument nung nakita ninyong vote buying at ine-encourage namin sila magfile ng complaint. ‘Yan po kasi ang pinakamahalagang aspeto ng laban, laban sa vote buying,” Jimenez explained.
