Man Fell In Love w/ Beautiful Woman But Just Used Him for Money
LOVE SCAM – A man fell in love with a beautiful woman he met online but the lady kept on asking him for money.
A guy identified as alias “Tino” becomes a victim of “Love Scam” after he fell in love with a gorgeous lady identified as “Andrea”. He was mesmerized and felt love at first sight with the scammer.
Tino checked the lady’s profile picture and was stunned by her beauty. They have started to exchange messages daily and his love for the woman blossomed everyday. A day does not pass without talking online.
As time goes by, Andrea started to ask for phone load credits and money to pay the electricity bill. The culprit even asked cash to allegedly purchase medicine for her sick relative.
The poor guy gives her requests although the woman repeatedly refused to show her face via video call and meet up. Eventually, the man became suspicious after she asked a big amount of money from him to redeem a property pawned by her father.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Anti-cybercrime division senior agent Atty. Kristita Amores said that Tino has been a victim of the so-called love scam.
According to the authorities, the scammers were creating fake profiles and use it to attract people and lure their victims. They pretend to fall in love and start to asks money from their victims.
“Love scam, just like any other scams online, ang pinagkaiba lang po nito, ang tinatarget ‘yong emotional vulnerability ng mga victims natin,” Amores said.
