Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto Shares Experience w/ Kid Who’s Reluctant to be Vaccinated

VICO SOTTO – The Pasig Mayor shared his encounter with a kid who was initially reluctant to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Philippines remains in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic for more than two (2) years now. The pandemic has greatly affected the lives of the people, the economy of the country, and almost everything. The Filipinos are currently living under a new normal setting.

To fight the spread of the virus, the national government is vaccinating the people against COVID-19. Different brands of vaccines including Sinovac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Janssen, and Moderna were either procured or donated to the country.

The government has opened the vaccination for the adult population. In fact, several fully vaccinated individuals have already received their booster shots.

COVID Vaccination for Kids

Recently, the vaccination of kids aged 5-11 got the go signal from the Department of Health (DOH) and the national government. Its rollout started in Metro Manila last February 7, 2022.

In Pasig City, four (4) areas were designated as vaccination sites and the dry run of the vaccination was composed of 1,650 kids who are 5-11 years old. Walk-in was not allowed and the parents can register their kids through their PasigPass accounts.

The vaccination sites are Buting, Manggahan, PCGH for kids with co-morbidities, and SM East Ortigas. Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto was present during the kick-off of the vaccination for children.

On Twitter, Mayor Vico Sotto shared his encounter about a kid who was reluctant to be vaccinated against the COVID-19. The Pasig Mayor told the kid that he will not go unless he gets vaccinated. He also encouraged the child by telling him that the sting of the vaccine will only be felt for one second and jested that the more painful scenario will take place at night.
