Juan Ponce Enrile Says 2022 Elections is ‘Repetition Of History’, Here’s Why

Here’s what Juan Ponce Enrile said about this year’s elections

Veteran political personality Juan Ponce Enrile said that the election this 2022 is a “repetition of history” and here is the reason why he said this.

Enrile has spent more than half of his life in public service. Throughout the years of his political career, he has witnessed momentous events in the history of politics in the Philippines.

Apparently, this is the reason why he made a comparison between what has happened in the elections in the past and the current election season. Based on the report from News5, the former Senator said that he thinks that history is repeating itself.

“This election reminds me of the election of 1965. President Ferdinand Marcos was the most maligned candidate ever in Philippine history up to that point,” Juan Ponce Enrile said.

The veteran political personality also said that the “virulent attacks” against Marcos Sr. surpassed those against Elpidio Quirino and Carlos P. Garcia during their time.

However, Enrile said that Marcos Sr. was still able to win the election. With this, he said that this same thing is happening now to Bongbong Marcos, the son of Ferdinand Marcos. “Oh, what a repetition of history!” the former Senator said.

Sara Duterte, Bongbong Marcos

He also said that this is the reason why the tandem of Bongbong Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is so strong and that their opponents will have a hard time beating them.

Meanwhile, in a previous report, Juan Ponce Enrile also shared his views on the International Criminal Court (ICC) issue that wanted to conduct an investigation on the alleged extrajudicial killings that happened because of the administration’s war on drugs. Enrile said that ICC should be declared persona non grata in the Philippines.
