Nograles said that Duterte has done well in “war on drugs”
Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles said that President Rodrigo Duterte “walang sinayang” when it comes to the campaign against prohibited drugs.
In 2016, this was one of the programs that the former Davao City Mayor strongly presented to the public. He even imposed a deadline to eliminate the problem of illegal substances.
However, this was also strongly criticized by many people. The President is accused of letting extra-judicial killings happen in the country because of his war on drugs. Human rights violation complaints against the administration are raised by many individuals and groups who went against what was happening during “tokhang.”
In a recent report from The Philippine Star, Nograles defended the Chief Executive saying, “Wala pong sinayang si Pangulong Duterte dito sa laban against illegal drugs and the facts will speak for themselves.”
This statement of the Presidential Spokesperson came after the criticism of Senator Ping Lacson, who is running for president in the 2022 elections, against the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the administration.
Nograles also said that extra-judicial killings are prohibited and anyone who is doing this will be prosecuted. “At kahit dun sa Department of Justice (DOJ) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), umuusad ang wheels of justice natin against anybody accused of any EJK,” he added.
The Presidential Spokesperson also said that from July 2016 to November 2021 more than P74 billion-worth of illegal drugs were seized and destroyed along with laboratory equipment and other paraphernalia.
Nograles also said that 23,686 barangays all over the country have been cleared from illegal drugs. The spokesperson of President Duterte stressed that this campaign continues to clear other barangays.
