The Philippines is once again faced with a challenge to intensify its COVID-19 fight as the cases started to climb again. Following the holiday season, several cities inside and outside Metro Manila recorded an increase in their cases which prompted the national government to implement stricter restrictions.
The national government placed the whole Metro Manila under Alert Level 3 beginning January 3 until January 15, 2022. Upon reaching the expiry of the duration of the first curb, the government extended the said measure in Metro Manila. Several areas outside the capital region with high COVID-19 cases are also currently under Alert Level 3.
Several known personalities in the country tested positive for COVID-19. Among them are Kapamilya singer Morissette Amon and her fiance, Dave Lamar.
In a social media post, Morissette Amon revealed that she and Dave Lamar were confined to a hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. They had “mild” symptoms of the disease but she had an issue in her colon that triggered her vomiting and headache. She needed IV medications.
