Chiz explained that since he and Heart entered into a prenup agreement, the properties or assets that the actress acquired within the duration of their marriage are just hers and this goes with him as well. If there is no prenup agreement, the assets or properties of the couple belong to each other.

For those of you who doesn’t understand how a pre-nup really works, some are afraid kasi, what if—knock, knock, knock—what if may masamang mangyari sa partner mo, hindi raw mapupunta sa kanila or sa family nila,” Heart Evangelista.

Chiz Escudero explained that the prenup agreement governs the property relations of the couple while they are still alive. When a spouse dies, the rules of inheritance will govern.

“If the guy dies, the spouse will automatically have 50 percent. And then from the guy’s 50 percent, dun magsi-share yung asawa niya, yung anak niya, or depende kung may anak siya sa labas,” the senatorial candidate said.

He added that inheritance is like a river flowing down and this never goes up. If the husband or wife dies, the inheritance will go to the spouse or children but this will not go to the parents or siblings of the deceased.

Parents and siblings will only have the inheritance if the person who passed away does not have a spouse or kids. The husband of Heart Evangelista also said that there is no issue in having a prenup agreement if both parties talked about it and agreed to do it.

The Kapuso star also said that having the prenup agreement does not mean that the couple will no longer work together as a partner when it comes to their finances.
