Andy Cohen shared his thoughts about Arnel Pineda and the band Journey
Pinoy singer Arnel Pineda, the vocalist of the international band Journey, received this negative comment from American talk show host Andy Cohen.
Arnel became part of the band in 2007. The previous vocalist is Steve Perry who decided to do solo. For Filipinos, it is something to be proud of when Arnel was named as the new vocalist of the legendary band.
However, apparently, not all people like him as the vocalist now of Journey. Based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Andy Cohen made a negative comment against the band after their CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live special.
The TV host criticized the lineup that included the Journey and Ashanti. “There’s lots of smoke coming from Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers that are performing behind us. I mean, with all due [respect] if you’ve been watching ABC tonight, you’ve seen nothing. I’m sorry. It’s true,” Cohen said as he hosted the show with Anderson Cooper.
He also slammed the band saying that it is fake as the original vocalist left and he was replaced by Arnel Pineda. “I just got doused in confetti from the fake Journey appearing on ABC. If it’s not Steve Perry, it doesn’t count! You get it? It’s not Journey!” Cohen said. “It’s propaganda! It’s propaganda! It’s not Journey! It’s not Journey! No, that was not Journey. Steve Perry is Journey. No!” he said.
Later on, Andy Cohen expressed regret because of his controversial statement. However, he said that the only thing he regretted saying was about Ryan Seacrest and the negative thing he said about the ABC Broadcast.
Meanwhile, Arnel Pineda shared last October 2020 that there will be a biopic being planned to be done about his life. It was reported that the director of the movie Crazy Rich Asians will direct the film.
