Mario Maurer Says He Had Great Experience Working W/ Filipino Team

MARIO MAURER – Thai superstar Mario Maurer said he’s looking forward to doing more movies in the Philippines.

Mario Maurer is a Thai actor, model, and social media personality. He rose to prominence after appearing in the hit Thai drama film “Love of Siam.” His performance in the film earned him the best actor award.

In 2010, Mario was cast as the love interest of Thai actress Baifern in the rom-com film “First Love,” also known as “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” The movie was a hit among his fans all over Asia, particularly the Philippines and Thailand.

The success of the movie in the Philippines encouraged ‘Star Cinema’ to cast Mario and Baifern in the 2012 Fil-Thai romantic film “Suddenly Its Magic.” He was paired with Kapamilya actress Erich Gonzales in the film.

“Suddenly Its Magic” was reported to be a box office hit, earning over P90 million. It was also screened in Thailand.

In the recently concluded Kilig Fest Christmas Special on Dec. 28, Mario Maurer shared his love for the Philippines and skateboarding. Event host VJ Utt asked the Thai superstar what makes the Philippines magical for him.

Mario replied, “Philippines is [a] very beautiful country with all of the many, many islands there. And, I think it’s the people. I think the Philippine people, they have very good hospitality and they’re very nice people. Very happy to be around them.”

After all the projects he has already done in the Philippines, Mario Maurer was asked, “What other projects are you looking to do in the Philippines?”

“Other projects I’m looking forward to do [in the Philippines] is I think more [movies]. You know I did one – Suddenly It’s Magic and it’s a great, great experience for me working with the Filipino team. And I would like to go back there again and do some more dramas or maybe another movie,” he said.
