The Department of Health (DOH) recorded two new cases of firecracker-related injuries, which brings it to a total of 25.
Throughout the decades, firecrackers and fireworks have been a part of the world’s culture and tradition every New Year’s eve. Many people believe that using firecrackers can drive bad energy away.
Unfortunately, numerous individuals were suffering from firecracker-related injuries. The government is already taking actions to reduce the number of casualties.

DOH reported that the cases were only caused by illegal fireworks and there are no casualties recorded due to stray bullet or ingestion. Most victims have age ranging from 6 to 34 years old.
“There was no fireworks ingestion, stray bullet injury, or death reported,” DOH said.
Seven victims suffered serious burn injuries that required amputation and 13 of them have blast injuries but amputation was not required. Six cases suffered an eye injury and four have multiple types of injuries.
11 cases happened at home, one at basketball court, one at work place and other 12 across the streets. 11 victims have hand injury.
