Lito Atienza Questioned Bongbong Marcos for Spending a Lot of Money in His Campaign
Vice presidential aspirant Lito Atienza questioned Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for allegedly spending a lot of money for his campaign.
Rep. Lito Atienza of the Buhay party-list recommended reviving the two-party system in order to prevent Marcos Jr. from running for president. Atienza claimed the two-party system can restore the aspect of decency and integrity in campaigning for public office in an episode of The Mangahas Interviews Special Election Series.
“We have to change the system, restore the two-party system, restore the element of decency and integrity in running for public office dahil kung wala ‘yong strong party system, anybody can run,” Atienza said.

At the same time, Atienza inquired about Marcos Jr.’s finances. He went on to say that if the country has a party system, only the party will check it and it will not be passed.
“I would like to ask one candidate today, Bongbong Marcos, ano negosyo niya? Saan siya nagtatrabaho? Ano kinikita niya? Ba’t ang dami-dami niyang perang ginagastos? Walang kontrol saan nanggagaling ‘yan,” the VP aspirant asked.
“Kung may party system tayo, sa partido palang susuriin na ‘yan, hindi lulusot ‘yan. Pero ngayon kandidato na, leading candidate pa kuno,” he added.
It will be noted that Atienza claimed that Marcos and his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, have selective memories when it comes to martial law. Atienza even stated that young Bongbong was still wearing a fatigue costume during his father’s rule.
He went on to remark that the siblings should be aware of the hardships faced by millions of Filipinos during their father’s presidency, which lasted 20 years. He says that it has benefited the Marcos siblings while the Filipino people have suffered as a result of their dictatorship.
