Israel Provides Portable Water Purifier to Aetas in Nueva Ecija

Aetas in Nueva Ecija Now Drinks Clean Water with Water Purifier from Israel

Israel has donated a portable water purifier to indigenous Aetas in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija to access clean water in their remote area.

After the Israeli Embassy in the Philippines provided an Israeli-made portable water purifier, an indigenous village in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija now has access to clean drinking water. The portable water purifier facility was handed over to representatives of the Ayta Indigenous Environmentalists by Israeli Ambassador Ilan Fluss and Shalow Club-Nueva Ecija (SaMaKa).

“We hope that the indigenous peoples will have access to clean and potable water with the use of this Israeli technology,” said Fluss.

“The embassy continues to look for ways on how Israeli technology and innovation will reach and benefit more Filipino people,” he added.

In addition, a product demonstration of the portable water purifier was held, demonstrating how water from the Bacao River was filtered to make drinkable water. According to the Israeli embassy, the project is part of the Shalom Club-Nueva Ecija’s annual outreach program “Ngayong Pasko, Salo Tayo,” which is led by Lorna Mae Vero in partnership with the Israeli embassy.

Fluss is Israel’s newest ambassador to the Philippines, although he’s already served in the country twice. From 1995 until 1998, he was the Deputy Chief of Mission.

He met with the Undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Birgido Dulay on November 4 to discuss crucial issues. This includes labor cooperation, tourism, defense, and consulates, as well as regional and multilateral developments.

Israel is also aiding the Philippines in combating the COVID-19 outbreak. They donated medical supplies and educational equipment, as well as hosted two Israeli health delegations, and immunizing the Filipino community in Israel.
