DSWD Clarifies P10K Ayuda Online Allegedly Offered by a Fake Facebook Page

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) denounced the alleged P10k ‘ayuda’ or cash aid being offered by a fake Facebook page.

The Department stated that they do not provide financial assistance via the internet. The DSWD has issued a statement after being startled by a bogus Facebook page that claimed to be offering assistance to netizens.

According to the Department, they received a notification from a concerned netizen that a Facebook page claiming to be them had been set up. The circulating bogus Facebook group posted a status urging the public to join via a link in order to obtain the P10,000 financial help.

“A bogus Facebook page, which is circulating online, posted a status, asking the public to register through a link in order to receive PHP10,000 financial assistance,” the DSWD said in a news release.

The organization explained that they do not offer cash aid through online or social media platforms. As a result, the agency launched an investigation into the situation right once to figure out who was behind it.

The public is urged to report any information obtained from the bogus Facebook page to the DSWD’s Agency Operations Center via the 8888 hotline. The official DSWD Facebook account is @dswdserves, which has over 1.1 million followers and can be found at facebook.com/dswdserves.

The platform is used by the government body to make announcements and provide updates on its different services and programs. DSWD also deactivated the Facebook accounts “DSWD Registration” and “DSWD SAP NEWS UPDATE” in June, which gave assistance (assistance). The phony “Sec. Rolando Bautista” was also a target of the bogus “Sec. In October, Rolando Bautista was appointed to the “Provincial Governor of La Union” account.
