Pres. Duterte Reveals Side on Trial In-Person Classes in Some Schools in Metro Manila
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke on the reopening of some schools in Metro Manila for trial in-person classes.
Most schools remain under blended learning for more than a year now due to the ongoing threats of the COVID-19 pandemic. The students are educated through online classes or the use of modules or learning materials depending on several factors like the internet availability in their areas.
The adoption of blended learning is for the safety of the students. Most parents also support the said move of the national government and the education department to ease worries about their kids.
Meanwhile, amid the decrease in the daily recorded cases of COVID-19 in the country and the mass vaccinations, there are talks about the possible reopening of the schools starting January 2022.
Previously, 100 schools in lower-risk areas were allowed to start the trial implementation of the in-person classes. Recently, some 2,000 students returned to 28 schools for the trial in-person classes in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is glad of the cautious reopening of some schools in Metro Manila for the trial in-person classes. The 76-year-old Chief Executive expressed that the reopening of schools must be done slowly and not too fast “just the better part of prudence”.
Speaking to the students and teachers who are not part of the trial in-person classes, the President told them not to be dismayed as “these are all experimental and pilot projects”. He stressed that the observation will be done on the chosen schools because they have the resources of the government and the officials are also there and they continue to update on what is happening.
“I’m glad they have thought of this. Just dahan-dahan lang,” Pres. Duterte said.
