Pres. Duterte Says He Fulfilled Almost All his Promises

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke about his promises during the election campaign in 2016.

In 2016, it was a landslide victory for Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the national election. Prior to being the country’s Chief Executive, he has served the people of Davao City for around 20 years. He is a former Davao City Mayor.

During the election campaign, the most popular promise of the former Davao City Mayor is to fight drugs in the country. He asked for six (6) months to clean the country from illegal drugs citing that he hates it as it is destroying the future of the youth.

Aside from the said staunch campaign promise. he also vowed to fight corruption in the government. He is always vocal that there are several others who can replace erring officials who take advantage of their positions. He also promised to end the employment contractualization in the Philippines.

Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s term as the country’s Chief Executive is about to end this 2022. He is not allowed to run for another presidential race under the Philippine Constitution. As the end of his term draws near, the 76-year-old Chief Executive spoke about his campaign promises.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President expressed that he fulfilled almost all of his promises to the Filipino people. He stressed that he tried his best.

“I can say with a little bit of pride na halos lahat ng ipinangako ko, natupad ko… I tried my best and hindi ko naman sabihin na ano, pero mukhang nakumpleto ko halos lahat,” he said.

With regards to the war against drugs, based on the report, the President expressed that he sees that he’s not able to finish it. He stressed that every minute there is someone who would engage in it. According to him, he is willing to be imprisoned for his campaign as long as he will be sentenced by a Philippine court.

Currently, the International Criminal Court (ICC) wants to investigate the President’s campaign which is linked to several deaths. The 76-year-old Chief Executive is running for senator in the next election.
