Who among the presidential candidates will receive the support of Bong Go?
Senator Bong Go announced that he is withdrawing his candidacy for president on November 30, Tuesday, and he was asked if who among the presidential aspirants he will support.
Initially, Go filed his certificate of candidacy for vice president under the ruling party, PDP-Laban. However, he withdrew and filed his candidacy for president and he substituted Grepor Belgica of Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS).
Prior to this official announcement of Senator Bong Go about his candidacy withdrawal, he already gave hints that he is still not grasping the whole idea of running for president because he initially conditioned himself for the vice president position.
On Tuesday, the close ally of President Rodrigo Duterte finally announced that he will no longer push her presidential candidacy for the 2022 elections. Based on the report from ABS-CBN News, Go said that he does not want to give additional worries to the President anymore.
He admitted that he is not ready to run for president and he did not aim for this position. “Wala po akong ambisyon na maging pangulo,” the Senator said adding that this is not yet his time and he will just let fate direct him.
When asked about the presidential candidate that he will support now that he already backed out, Bong Go said, “Kung sino susuportahan ni Pangulong Duterte, ‘yun din susuportahan ko.”
He also stressed that people should not call him Senator because he wants to be remembered as a “public servant”. The Senator also said that it was difficult for him to campaign for president when his heart and mind are not fully focused on this endeavor.
