Bong Go Reveals Stand on Proposed Drug Test for Election Candidates

Is Sen. Bong Go willing to undergo drug test?

BONG GO – The presidential aspirant and incumbent Senator revealed his stand on the proposed drug test for election candidates.

The recent statement of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accusing a presidential candidate of using illegal substances made rounds on social media. It came along with an accusation that a candidate is a “weak leader” in character and is only boosted by his surname.

The remarks of the 76-year-old President triggered the talks about the proposed drug test for all the candidates in the Election 2022. Previously, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno who is also seeking the presidential position recommended it.

Several presidential aspirants have expressed their affirmation of the proposal. Recently, another aspirant, Sen. Bong Go, expressed his stand.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Bong Go expressed that he is willing to undergo a drug test “any time of the day” if it is needed. According to the Senator, although it is not mandatory, he is willing to do so to prove to the people who is fit to lead the country.

Sen. Go, a former special assistant to Pres. Duterte, is the standard-bearer of the Cusi wing of the ruling party, PDP-Laban. Initially, he filed his candidacy for vice president in the Election 2022 but he withdrew his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) when he knew that presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is running for the same position.

Go is close to the President and his family. According to the 76-year-old Chief Executive, he was the one who encouraged him to run for president. He also trusts him to continue what he has started emphasizing that his support goes for him in the upcoming election.

PDP-Laban Cusi wing has no vice-presidential bet. The President is reportedly seeking support for Go and his daughter, Mayor Sara Duterte.
