A GMA executive shared these details of the contract that A-list actor John Lloyd Cruz signed with the Kapuso network and the upcoming project that he will do.
After a few months of negotiation, it was finally confirmed that John Lloyd is doing a sitcom on GMA. On November 9, he officially signed a contract and this has brought excitement to his fans who have been anticipating his TV comeback.
President and programming consultant to the chairman and CEO Annette Gozon-Valdes was asked if what John Lloyd Cruz signed was a “guaranteed contract”, based on the article in The Philippine Star.
Gozon-Valdes said, “No, not yet. This is a line production. So, sila ni direk Bobot, they’re going to produce the show, and it’s going to be aired on GMA.” She added that in the sitcom, the character of Lloydie has no leading lady but there will be regular guests in the sitcom.
“The concept is not just an ordinary sitcom, it’s very heartwarming and it has a lot of values that will be imparted to the audience,” the GMA executive added.
In the sitcom, John Lloyd’s character is a single father. It is titled Happy To Get Her, a play on the phrase “happy together”, and this will be shown on Sunday primetime slot. The show is expected to start airing in January next year. It was originally planned to be aired in September or October but the delay happened.
“We were negotiating with them, but there were a lot of declarations na ECQ and meron mga parang nag-quarantine so nagkaroon ng konting delays in the finalization. But we were working on it continuously and finally, eto na,” Gozon-Valdes revealed.
The finalization of the concept also took a long time for them to finish, as well as the negotiation on what type of contract it would be. Gozon-Valdes also shared that they are already talking about pitching drama or movie concepts to John Lloyd Cruz.
