Governor Gwen Garcia Makes Announcement over Presidential Candidate One Cebu will Endorse
GOVERNOR GWEN GARCIA – The Cebu Governor spoke on the presidential bet of the local political party, One Cebu, for Election 2022.
The filing of the candidacy period for Election 2022 is over. Currently, substitutions have the possibility of taking place until November 15 as set by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). According to the poll body, there is a total of 97 presidential candidates for the next election.
Comelec said that they will screen all the candidates to determine possible nuisance candidates or those who really have no serious intention of running for a certain position. The poll body has determined some nuisance candidates.
Some political parties have already announced their presidential bets in the next election while there are also those that have yet to decide on who to support and endorse in the election. One of these is the local political party One Cebu.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia said that One Cebu will only choose and reveal the presidential bet that it will support after November 15. According to her, they know that the situation is still “fluid” and instant changes may happen so they don’t want to make any decision by now.
Previously, photos of Garcia with presidential aspirant and former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio crossed the surface. Based on the report, the Governor of Cebu clarified that the photo spoke about her being endorsed by the Davao City Mayor and the presidential aspirant.
Garcia is running for a gubernatorial position in the Election 2022. Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio recently went to Cebu to attend a dinner at the house of Garcia’s daughter, Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco who is also the Davao City Mayor’s spokesperson.
According to the Cebu Governor, One Cebu has yet to decide on its presidential bet and while she has a “personal friendship” with Marcos Jr., the decision of her political party must be a consensus. Aside from the former Senator, presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has also visited the vote-rich Cebu.
