Manila Police, Cohort Nabbed Over Reported Kidnapping Incident

Authorities arrested a police and his cohort after they were reportedly involved in a kidnapping incident that occurred in Manila.

According to a report from the Manila Police Department, an active police officer was arrested in Paco, Manila, and accused of kidnapping with his colleague. Patrolman Wilfredo Mindanao, 42, a married PNP member now posted to the PSPG Comelec Intramuros, was identified as one of the suspects.

On the other hand, his accomplice was identified as Romeo Aday, a 47-year-old driver from Purok 5, Santa Rosa City, Laguna. According to the MPD, the kidnapping of the two was reported by Rizza Salva, 45, of Singalong, Malate.

Salva reached the Paz Police Community Precinct, according to the MPD, and claimed that the suspects are seeking P50,000 in exchange for the victim’s release. Jovito Abejo, 54, a servant from Manila’s 1225 Trece De Agosto Paco, was the victim.

The victim was allegedly sighted earlier by the suspect, Aday, under the Trece De Agosto Bridge in Paco, Manila. When he noticed the victim holding a plastic sachet of shabu, he presented himself as a member of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The victim was then taken to their home, where they were solicited for money. To save the victim and apprehend the suspects, a hot-pursuit operation was launched right away.

The authorities also made touch with the Punong Barangay Benigno Addun, Brgy. 679, Paco, Manila, and headed straight to the suspect’s and victim’s place of residence. As a result, Paz PCP requested backup from Paco PCP, PS-5, and upon arriving at the area, Paz PCP noticed the suspects guarding the victim, which led to their arrest and the victim’s rescue.

A sachet of shabu, as well as the suspects’ telephones, were located in the area. Alleged Serious Illegal Detention (Kidnapping), Authority Usurpation, and a Violation of Sec. 11 Art. R.A.’s (R.A.’s) 9165 people have been arrested and will be brought before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
