Doc Willie Ong Speaks on Plans if He Wins Vice President in 2022
DOC WILLIE ONG – The cardiologist and vice-presidential candidate revealed that he wants medicine and hospital treatment free for Filipinos.
One of the popular personalities who filed their candidacy for vice president in the Election 2022 is Dr. Willie Ong, a cardiologist who is known on social media for the health videos he uploads that benefit a lot of people. He filed his bid under Aksyon Demokratiko.
Doc Willie is the running mate of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno who is vying for the presidency in the next election. Previously, when he announced his bid, the Manila Mayor asked for support to them as a tandem despite that he assured that he can work with anyone.
Doc Willie believes that the Philippine government needs a doctor most especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic now. It is more than a year now and the whole nation remains under community quarantine measures while the country continues to record new cases daily.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Doc Willie Ong criticized the government’s response to the pandemic. According to him, the slow return to normalcy is affecting the students’ mental health.
The cardiologist stressed that depression, which he experienced when he was still studying, is not a joke. He also feels pity towards small children who are not allowed to go out from their houses and stressed that even college students need face-to-face classes as they no longer know how to deal with people.
Based on the report, the vice-presidential candidate also urges the government to loosen the quarantine measures for returning Filipinos from abroad and tourists who want to visit the country.
“Sa kanila mababa ang kaso, maganda ang bakuna, dapat sila ang mas dapat matakot sa atin kaya pasalamat tayo,” he said.
According to Doc Willie Ong, if he wins vice president, he will focus on “GOAL” – Gamot, Ospital, Advice, Laboratory Tests. He wants it free for the Filipinos. He stressed that he will not promise anything extraordinary but he can vow not to steal from the government.
