Police Robbing, Extorting Money from a Fruit Vendor in Quezon City Arrested
Quezon City Police Department (QCPD) personnel arrested a police in for allegedly robbing a fruit vendor and extorting money.
A police officer stationed in Quezon City was allegedly stealing and extorting money from a fruit vendor in Barangay Pasong Tamo, according to a Philippine National Police report. The policeman was identified as P/Cpl. Myrldon Linga Yagi by PNP Chief General Guillermo Eleazar.
The extortionist cop was posted to QC Police Department Station 14 according to the complaint. Yagi was apprehended in this location after an entrapment operation was carried out against the extortionist police.
This comes after a vendor claimed he sought P2,000 from his fruit stand to keep it from being disassembled, based on the report of the Philippine News Agency (PNA). Yagi allegedly threatened the fruit salesman with the service weapon he was carrying, in addition to extortion.
“Isa na namang kasamahan namin ang napariwara ng landas at itinaya ang kanyang propesyon at ang integridad ng aming organisasyon sa halagang dalawang libong piso,” said Eleazar.
“Dahil dito ay titiyakin natin na habambuhay na pagsisihan ni Police Corporal Myrldon Yagi ang ginawa niyang pangongotong lalo na kung lumabas sa imbestigasyon na talagang ginawa niya ito,” he added.
Yagi was discovered in possession of the entrapment’s marked cash. A 9mm pistol, two magazines, a PNP identification card, and P1,625 cash were also recovered by the authorities.
