ARJO ATAYDE – Award-winning actor Arjo Atayde shares what he told Maine Mendoza, his girlfriend, as he pursues a political career.
Kapamilya actor Arjo Atayde filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for congressman of Quezon City’s first district. He was accompanied by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte when he filed his COC. Arjo joins the cluster of celebrities turning to be politicians.
He is in a relationship with Kapuso actress Maine Mendoza but since he filed his candidacy, his girlfriend remains inactive about it. In an interview with Julius Babao for a vlog, he revealed that his girlfriend is supportive of him but as much as possible he doesn’t want to drag her to be in that field because he knows how complicated it is to get involved.
Also, Maine initially expressed some inhibitions over his plans but he assure her to serve with honesty and not follow the dirty tactics of some other politicians. She also knows how messy politics can get. He said, “But I gave her promise to behave, and walang kalokohan sa loob. My will is just to serve nang tapat at tunay sa mga tao.”
His family and her family are also supportive of his decision to run. He believes that it’s his own battle and he doesn’t need anyone from them to be dragged into the world he’s about to join. Just the support he has received from them is also enough for him to push through his bid to become a congressman.
