Robin Padilla’s candidacy received support from Mariel Padilla
Action movie star Robin Padilla filed his certificate of candidacy for Senator and his wife TV host Mariel Padilla shared her reaction.
Previously, through his social media live, Robin asked the public about the decision that he needs to do. He was thinking about going back to doing movies and several projects are already lining up for him.
However, he admitted that he is also considering entering the world of politics and on October 8, the final day for the filing of COC, he became one of the aspiring senators for next year’s election.
With this, Robin Padilla’s wife Mariel Padilla showed her support. Through her Instagram post, the TV host said that the decision of her husband to join the political arena has a deep reason.
“Robin is not hungry for money or power. He is at a point in his life wherein he just wants to make a difference. Put action to all his complaints. Speak for the Muslims,” she said. Mariel also expressed that she will support her husband all the way. “Behind you, beside you and with you all the way @robinhoodpadilla,” she said.
Robin Padilla will be running under PDP-Laban, the political party of President Rodrigo Duterte. The actor is one of the celebrities who is a vocal supporter of the current administration. Under the said party, Senator Bong Go filed his COC for Vice President while Senator Bato Dela Rosa filed his COC for President.
In a previous interview, Dela Rosa was asked what if he will be replaced by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. He said that it is much better but stressed that he is also serious about running for the highest position in the government.
