The culprit was identified as Remegio Mariano, 49, according to the Quezon Police report. The CIDG Rizal Provincial Field Unit apprehended him in a secluded community in Infanta, Quezon.

Mariano was wanted in connection with a slew of large-scale estafa instances involving allegedly illegal recruitment. According to the CIDG, the suspect is looking for people who wish to work as housemaids, golf course ball pickers, and apple pickers in America for a monthly compensation of up to P150,000.

In exchange, the suspect demanded between P70,000 and P90,000 from each application. According to the CIDG, numerous of Mariano’s victims have filed complaints against him.

The suspect, on the other hand, refuted the charges leveled against him. He claims he had no idea the agency he was working for was a sham. The CIDG advised the public to double-check with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and other government organizations to see whether any companies are still hiring overseas.
