Claudine Barretto takes first step on her political journey
Optimum Star Claudine Barretto filed her certificate of candidacy as she aims to be elected as councilor in Olongapo City.
Claudine has spent a big part of her life in showbiz and now she is embracing a new journey as a politician. She will be running as councilor under the team of her talent manager Arnold Vegafria who is running for mayor. Also included in their team is Mr. World Philippines 2019 JB Saliba.
Previously, there were those who questioned why the 42-year-old actress is running in Olongapo. It was said that she has been staying there amid the pandemic. Her manager also reasoned out she is already a resident of Olongapo. Claudine Barretto’s grandfather is a former governor there while her father is an SBMA director.
On October 7, the Optimum Star filed her COC along with Vegafria and other members of their team. Based on the article in PEP, this was posted on the Bangon Olongapo 2022 Facebook Page.
During a speech last September 27, Claudine admitted that she is not an expert when it comes to politics but she assured the people of Olongapo that she will serve them wholeheartedly.
“Wala akong masyadong alam pagdating sa pulitika, pero sisiguraduhin ko naman sa inyo, mga kababayan ko, kaya kong magserbisyo nang tunay at may puso,” the actress said.
Based on the report, on October 6, Claudine Barretto and Arnold Vegafria had their oath-taking under the PDP-Laban party.
Meanwhile, there are many other celebrities who are also seeking different positions in the government in 2022 such as Aiko Melendez, Herbert Bautista, EJ Falcon, Richard Yap, Nash Aguas, and many more.
