Former President Gloria Arroyo Files COC as Pampanga Representative For 2022 Election
Former President Gloria Arroyo is planning her House comeback in 2022 elections after filing her certificate of candidacy as Pampanga representative.
Pampanga Representative Mikey Arroyo announced that his mother ex-president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo would run in Congress in 2022 polls. The latter confirmed that his mom has already filed it certificate of candidacy.
Mrs. Arroyo is planning to return to politics after taking a three-year break since the completion of her consecutive three-year terms from 2010 to 2019 as Pampanga representative. She pend her last year of term as the chamber’s Speaker.
Arroyo replaced Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez after President Rodrigo Duterte appointed her to the position during his State of the Nation Address in July 2018.
Maria Gloria Macaraeg Macapagal Arroyo with initials GMA is the 14th President of the Philippines. She served as the country’s national leader from 2001 until 2010 and has been considered as the longest serving President in the post-Marcos era.
Lakas-CMD presidenti emeritus GMA is also the country’s Vice President from 1998 to 2001 and a senator from 1992 to 1998.
The former leader has been arrested in November 2011 at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City over charges of electoral sabotage but was released in July 2012 after paying bail.
In October 2012, she has been rearrested due to charges of misuse of $8.8 million in state lottery funds but was given a hospital arrest due to alleged life-threatening health conditions certified by her medical consultants.
