Rescuers Found Young Girl’s Remains But Her Mom Still Missing After the Catmon Tragedy

CATMON INCIDENT – The rescuers have already found the young girl’s remains who has been swept away by flood but her mom remains missing.

The actual video footage of a tragic accident happened Barangay Tabili in the town of Catmon in northern Cebu. Three people gone missing due to the incident happened on Sunday (September 26, 2021).

The video shows a group of people happily swimming at the waterfalls when a flash flood suddenly swept the teenagers. Other tourists were able to flee and avoid the rushing waters after hiding in large rocks.

Catmon Police Station investigator Police Corporal Gemar Arigo reported that the rescuers immediately conducted a search and rescue operation to find the remains of the victims.

The victims have been identified as 17-year-old Kent Junde Monterola, 32-year-old Jacel Alastra, 17 and her 7-year-old daughter Princess Alastra. Monterola’s body has been found several hours after he went missing.

On Monday (September 27, 2021), Patrolman Genesis Caballero of the Catmon Police Station reported that the rescuers found the body of Princess in Sitio Kulo, Barangay Duyan at around 11:30 am.

The remains of Princess has been found 22 hours since the incident happened. However, her mom Jacel remains missing but the authorities were still conducting further search and retrieval operations to find the lady victim.

A witness named Carlos Dolendo said that there were around 100 persons at the area when the incident happened. He also witnessed on how the caretaker warned the local tourists for possible flash floods.
