ZANJOE MARUDO – Kapamilya actor Zanjoe Marudo speaks about his secret to staying long in the showbiz industry as he reaches his 15th year as an actor.
After coming out as the fourth big placer of the first-ever celebrity edition of the reality show Pinoy Big Brother, famous artist Zanjoe Marudo’s career as an actor and leading man skyrocketed. Through the years as an actor, he has appeared in several TV series like Lovers in Paris (2009), Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Kristine (2010), Annaliza (2013), Dream Dad (2014), Tubig at Langis (2016), and My Dear Heart (2017).
He also landed in hit movies such as You Got Me! (2007), Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme (2009), Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme (2012), One More Try (2012), Bromance: My Brother’s Romance (2013), Maria Leonora Teresa (2014) and The Third Party (2016).
After winning in PBB in 2006, he signed a contract with ABS-CBN and since then worked his way hard to being the actor that he is now. And the peak of his career was when he got nominated in the 45th International Emmy awards in the Best Performance By An Actor category for his performance in Maalaala Mo Kaya entitled Anino.
And swiftly, this year, he is celebrating his 15 year in the industry as an actor. Last September 22, he had a Star Magic mediacon, he shared that he doesn’t have a particular secret why he stayed that long in the show business industry. He just love what he does and always finds something to enjoy to in his craft.
15 years for him was so quick. He even recalled that he doesn’t know anything about acting and being an actor when he first joined the industry. He said, “Tingnan mo, hindi ko namalayan 15 years na pala ako sa industriya. Na ngayon ko lang na-realize na ganun katagal na. Siguro dahil nag-e-enjoy ako at mahal na mahal ko yung ginagawa ko ngayon.”
His Emmys nomination was one of the highlights of his career. He has this goal to be recognized internationally but the nomination came unexpectedly to him. This happened in 2017 and while he already has this goal in him, it wasn’t in his mind to receive such at that time.
And to those who wanted to be an actor like him, one advice he can give them is to build a relationship with their co-workers according to a report from PUSH. They have to buld a connection not just with their fellow celebrities but also to the people behind the production such as staff, cameramen, and others.
