Miss Universe PH 2021: Another MUP Bet Withdraws From Pageant

Davao City’s Ybonne Ortega Withdraws from Miss Universe PH 2021

MISS UNIVERSE PH 2021 – Ybonne Ortega of Davao City will no longer compete in the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant.

Reigning queen Rabiya Mateo is set to crown her successor in the much-awaited Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant. Before passing the crown to the new MUP, she and her fellow queens have reunited for a fiery swimsuit shoot.

The winner of the local pageant will represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2021 to be held in Israel in December. The organization has yet to announce the new date for its coronation night after postponing its initial Sept. 25 schedule.

In a previous article, Zambales’ bet Joanna Marie Rabe announced that she will no longer push through with the Miss Universe PH 2021 pageant after catching dengue. The model and beauty queen cited that she will need some time to recover from the illness.

Another candidate in the local pageant bid goodbye to the competition due to illness. On Sunday, September 19, Davao City’s bet Ybonne Ortega took to her Instagram account to announce that she’s bowing out of MUP after testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

“It breaks my heart that I won’t be able to formally compete in the Miss Universe Philippines 2021,” she said.

Ybonne Ortega said even before meeting the Miss Universe PH team, and fellow candidates, she had tested positive for the virus. The aspiring beauty queen said she kept quiet, hoping her situation would change.

“I kept quiet hoping that my situation would change and retesting would result with negative results. Unfortunately, this is not yet my time to compete in the final stretch of the MUPH pageant.”

Ybonne Ortega said the worst part of her pageant experience was not about testing positive for COVID-19, but “it was about those negative individuals who try to drag you down or spread false information while you’re trying to do your best.”
