Here’s what Joey de Leon said about Lacson-Sotto tandem
Comedian-host Joey de Leon shared his thoughts on the political tandem of Senator Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto for the 2022 elections.
Previously, Lacson and Sotto already revealed their plan to run for President and Vice President, respectively, next year. On September 8, they officially announced their tandem. Based on the article in Manila Bulletin, initially, the launching was set on August 4 but it was postponed because of the rising in the number of Delta variant cases in Metro Manila and the lockdown was implemented again.
“Hindi natin dapat payagan ang maling akala para sa kinabukasan ng ating bansa,” Sen. Lacson said during the launch. He also said that leaders of the country should set an example.
For Sen. Sotto, the start of setting things right must begin now. “Kailangan na nating umaksyon. Kailangan na natin magsanib pwersa upang mapigilan at maitama ang mali,” he said.
When Joey de Leon was asked about the Lacson-Sotto tandem during a recent interview, his answer once again featured a play of words. The Henyo Master has worked with the Senate President for several decades. They are part of the trio TVJ with Vic Sotto.
“Pagkakakilala ko kay Tito, para sa aming grupo isang magaling na lider o pinuno. ‘Yan ang huwaran namin pagdating sa kamag- anak o sa pamilya. Basta alam ko magaling si Tito, ganundin si Ping. Kaya one good plus one good eh ‘two/too” good,” the comedian-host said.
To recall, last June, the TVJ trio had a meeting and Joey appeared to have hinted the plan of Sotto to run for Vice President. Last July, during the 42nd-anniversary celebration of Eat Bulaga, Vic Sotto expressed support for his older brother in whatever endeavor he will take in the future.
