1 Dead, 17 Missing As Storm Jolina Ravages Through Luzon & Visayas

JOLINA – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) confirmed 1 dead and 17 missing due to tropical storm Jolina.

As Jolina ravaged its way through Luzon and Visayas, several areas were heavily affected. This included Marinduque where the NDRRMC reported its first death.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, the man was said to be 21-years of age from Buenavista, Marinduque. The man sadly died due to drowning.

Furthermore, there were also reports of two other fatalities in Naro Masbate. However, local government units were still confirming the news.

Earlier, the agency reported that 5 out of the 12 missing fishermen had been found. But, due to the heavy rainfall, more went missing in Culuba, Biliran, and Esperanza, Masbate.

As per the report, a total of three fishermen went missing in Culuba. Meanwhile, four others were reported as missing in Esperanza.

Jolina also razed close to P300 worth of crops in Calabarzon, Western Visasyas, and Easter Visayas. Due to this, more than 62,00 farmers and fisheries workers were severely hit by the effects of the storm.

Unfortunately, following the effects of Jolina, the Philippines now has to brace for Typhoon Kiko which kept its strength as it moves closer to the Philippine Sea.
