“Di Na Muli” writer clarifies that the series top-billed by Julia Barretto was not copied from a K-Drama.
JULIA BARRETTO – Noreen Capili explains “Di Na Muli” of Julia Barretto after netizens noticed some similarities from the K-Drama series “About Time”.
Celebrities Julia Barretto, Marco Gumabao, and Marco Gallo top-bill the new TV5 series entitled “Di Na Muli”. Barretto was dubbed as the network’s “Drama Royalty” and she is paired with the two promising leading men of the industry. It will start airing on Saturday, September 18. This is the comeback series of the actress after doing “Ngayon At Kailanman” with Joshua Garcia in ABS-CBN.

Other casts of the series are Angelu de Leon, Bobby Andrews, Baron Geisler, Katya Santos, Lander Vera-Perez, Liz Alindogan, Mickey Ferriols, and Andre Yllana. After the trailer has been released, many people, especially the fans of K-Dramas, noticed the stories similarity to the Korean series “About Time”.
“About Time” is a 2018 South Korean fantasy television series featuring Lee Sang-yon and Lee Sung-kyung. The story is about an aspiring musical actress who can see the life span of a person. And Julia, in the series, has the same ability. She can also see how long a person lives. Her character comes from a family of “manghuhula”.
Noreen Capili, the writer of the series, explained that the characters might have the same ability and element but the whole story of “Di Na Muli” is much different from the story of “About Time”. She also added that it’s not inspired by the K-Drama and the abilities of the characters being the same are just a coincidence.
“Meron din silang ganoong element, pero ‘yon ang element lang na nagkakapareho pero magkaiba yung kuwento. So, I think they should watch our series para makita nila na this is really different,” the writer explained which was agreed by the two leading men as per report from PEP.
Apart from the K-Drama, netizens also expressed that the series has a similarity to “Death Note” and “In Time” film of Justin Timberlake.
