Man Arrested After Attempt to Smuggle Drugs Inside Peanut Butter While Visiting Jail

Jail guards arrested a man who was just visiting an inmate after he was caught attempting to smuggle illegal drugs by hiding them inside peanut butter.

A guy was apprehended at the Dumaguete City Police Station in Negros Oriental for attempting to hide illegal substances known as “shabu” inside peanut butter jam. The suspect was identified as Jerry Joseph Mamicpic of Barangay Mangnao, who was only visiting a buddy who had been imprisoned, according to the report.

Mamicpic was carrying a plastic bottle of peanut butter and bread, according to Dumaguete City Police Chief Police Lt. Col. Joeson Parallag. The duty jail guard suspected such peanut butter when he was inspected.

The illegal substances were discovered wrapped in masking tape within peanut butter after a thorough search by the correctional guards. The uncovered illegal drugs are estimated to be worth roughly P6,800 on the street.

Meanwhile, authorities nabbed a jail visitor who attempted to sneak illegal drugs into the Silang Custodial Center in Cavite by putting them inside rice for a fellow inmate. Before entering, a Duty Custodial Facility Officer inspected the food he was bringing as part of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

 After a thorough inspection, the inspector discovered two sachets of suspected illegal narcotics known as “shabu” intermingled with the bagged rice. The apprehended defendant was accused of breaking RA 9165’s Section 11 Article II.
