Christian Bables has this reaction when asked if he is gay
Actor Christian Bables was asked in a recent interview if he is “gay” and this was his reaction to the allegation about his preference.
The popularity of Christian skyrocketed because of his gay roles in movies. In 2016, he did the movie Die Beautiful with Kapuso star Paolo Ballesteros and garnered positive reviews. Then, in 2019, he once again played another gay role on the big screen with Paolo and Martin del Rosario for the movie The Panti Sisters.
With this kind of role, viewers have seen the acting prowess of Christian Bables. Although it has received positive comments, allegations surfaced that he is “gay” in real life. Based on the article in Manila Bulletin’s entertainment section, the actor strongly clarified that he is straight. “I think no. This is simply because my preference ay hindi po same s@x,” the actor explained.
However, he stressed that he is nothing against the LGBTQA+ members. “But I’m a proud ally to the community,” Christian clarified.
After his two movies playing gay roles, the actor said that he wanted to decline projects with the same theme with the fear of being “pigeonholed.” However, in his new movie Bekis On The Run, he is playing another gay role.
“Napag-usapan namin before ng manager ko ‘yun, si Tito Boy Abunda, na siguro, pahinga muna ako sa paggawa ng gay roles. Pero ‘yun nga, ‘yung gay roles ang ayaw magpahinga sa akin. Parang gustung-gusto po nila ako,” Christian Bables shared.
Despite the actor and his manager had this initial plan, he still accepted the new movie with a gay role because of its director who really handpicked him.
“Masaya na ma-handpick ng isang Joel Lamangan para sa kanyang pelikula. Sino po ako para tumanggi? That’s Direk Joel Lamangan. Kahit siguro ang role na ibigay niya sa akin ay ipis, gagawin ko po, ma-experience ko lang na makatrabaho si Direk Joel Lamangan,” Christian shared.
