Several Residents Spotted Gathering at Parañaque for Baclaran Day Amid MECQ

Filipino people have gathered at Baclaran Church in Parañaque during Baclaran Day amid the implementation of MECQ in the area.

The Philippine government is currently implementing stricter rules and regulations to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease. The illness has already took thousands of lives in the country.

The virus does not only affect the public’s health but also causes a negative impact to the global economy. The health crisis pushes the government to prohibit or limit mass gathering including religious events.

Baclaran Day

On Wednesday (August 25, 2021), numerous Filipinos have been spotted crowding at Baclaran Church in Parañaque City although public religious gathering in Metro Manila is prohibited during modified enhanced community quarantine.

Devotees are prohibited to go inside the church while the online mass is ongoing. Some devotees were just standing at the gate to pray. A lot of bikers also stopped outside the church to pray for a while.

Barangay officials and the police authorities were roaming around the area to impose the minimum health standards.

The church allows people to enter the building to pray when there is no mass. The measure aims to prevent the people from violating the physical distancing measure and health protocols, which may lead to spread of the coronavirus disease.

Baclaran Church also reduced the numbers of masses during Baclaran Day. Previously, the management is conducting masses every hour but decided to cut it down amid the implementation of lockdown.
