Inmate Who Escaped & Resist Arrest Shot Dead by Cebu City Police

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Cebu City police shoots the inmate who escaped from the patrol car and resist arrest.

Mabolo Police Station chief Police Major Renz Talosig reported that the detainee identified as Noeh Niez escaped from the cops inside a mobile patrol car. The suspect escaped after having his medical checkup at the Regional Crime Laboratory in Sudlon, Barangay Lahug in Cebu City.

Niez has been arrested on July 16 for illegal drugs and eventually admitted that he is the alleged perpetrator of shooting the construction worker Jenrey Sanico. He allegedly killed the victim over its inappropriate responses to him.

Noeh is blaming himself for the incident and still hoping that the victim’s family would accept his apologies.

On Thursday (August 12, 2021), the Cebu City cops conducted follow up operations to re-arrest Niez after escaping from mobile patrol unit in Sitio Upper Carreta. The cops were usually given at least 24 hours to arrest the suspect.

Talosig said that several concerned residents give the operating team an information regarding the target’s location. The cops successfully found the suspect in the area.

Unfortunately, Niez noticed them and even attempted to resist arrest but the police officers were able to hold him. However, the inmate tried to grab a gun prompting the cops to shoot him.

The suspect suffered a wound on the neck due to the commotion, which leads to his untimely death. The cops recovered a black widow revolver caliber 9 mm with two ammunitions and two fired cartridges from the fugitive.

The items seized from the suspect would go under ballistic examination.
