DOH Says All Areas Of Metro Manila Critical/High Risk For COVID-19 Infections

ALL OF METRO MANILA CRITICAL – Due to the recent surges in COVID-19 daily caseloads, Metro Manila has been placed under an enhanced community quarantine.

Currently, the Department of Health (DOH) stressed that all areas within the NCR are classified by either high or critical risk for COVID-19. Areas that are considered as high risk are those that have a high percentage of infection and low bed space for COVID-19 patients.

Navotas and Pateros are both classified as critical risk as hospital beds in the areas are fully occupied. Concerningly, there was a 353.25% increase in the two-week growth rate of the virus in Navotas. Meanwhile, Pateros had a 266.35% increase.

When it comes to the Delta Variant, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said “All NCR areas are affected by the Delta variant”. However, she failed to disclose if this could cause an extension of the ECQ in Manila.

Instead, she said that the DOH and other government agencies would still need to see the effects of the lockdown for the next two to three weeks.
