PhilHealth Mental Health Care Package Under Works

PhilHealth Mental Health Care Package May Soon Be Up for Members

PHILHEALTH MENTAL HEALTH CARE – The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. is currently preparing a mental health care package.

It has been more than a year now since the COVID-19 pandemic started changing the lives of people. The Philippines is one of the countries hit by the pandemic and Filipinos are living under a “new normal” now.

Unlike before, elementary and high school students are educated through a blended learning – via online classes and modules so they don’t have to leave their homes. Most college students are also under the same set-up unlike the usual face-to-face classes before.

Many businesses also shut down amid the pandemic. Truly, aside from the healthcare system, another field that suffers a lot is the economy.

The closure of several businesses in PH also led to many people losing their jobs. Several households now are financially struggling and breadwinners who lost their job have a hard time putting food on the table.

Travel restrictions are still up now and, unlike before, it is not very easy to get to another place most especially abroad. There are health protocols and quarantine requirements. Many countries also implement travel bans now to fight the spread of the Delta variant.

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic is undeniably heavy and it triggered anxiety and depression to a lot of people. Many people lost their loves ones, their jobs, and their target timelines in achieving their goals.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Department of Health (DOH) recognized the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health of many people. Thus, the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. is now working on a PhilHealth Mental Health Care Package.

Under the PhilHealth Mental Health Care Package, members who are experiencing anxiety, stress, and depression can avail free consultation. The authorities encourage the people who are experiencing it not to be afraid to share what they are going through.

The package is under works now. More updates may be posted soon.
