Pacquiao Relates Politics To Boxing Following Opponent Change

PACQUIAO POLITICS TO BOXING – Following news of an opponent change, fighting Senator Manny Pacquiao takes from his political career and applies it to boxing.

Initially, Pacquiao was set to fight Errol Spence for the WBC-IBF welterweight championship. However, due to an injury he was forced to immediately go into surgery leaving the door open for super WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas.

With the fight still set for August 21, many fear that the Filipino champ may have a little time to adjust his fighting style for Ugas. However, Pacquiao, this time, takes from his political career and applied it to his boxing.

According to an article from Philboxing, Pacquiao stated: “I am a politician. I am used to dealing with changing stances”. Furthermore, he said that he has adjusted quickly after taking on 3 right-hand fighters in a span of eight rounds.

“For the first 30 seconds things looked a little odd in sparring, but I adjusted quickly, and it was business as usual”, said Pacquiao. Meanwhile, Pacquiao admitted that feeling frustration due to Spence backing out.

Still, Pacquiao wished his fellow fighter a fast recovery. For the meantime, he welcomes the opportunity to enter the ring with Ugas, who recently got elevated to a “super” welterweight champion.

Previously, Pacquiao also held the “super” title, however, due to his inactivity, he was put on a “champion recess”. Based on an article from ABS-CBN, Pacquiao stated:

Ugás is a champion with a strong Cuban boxing background. This is a big fight, and we will give the fans an exciting show. He was given my title belt earlier in the year but now we get to fight for it inside the ring. That is the proper way to become a world champion
