8 LGUs in National Capital Region to Impose Liquor Ban Starting August 6, MMDA Says

MMDA said that eight local government units in the National Capital Region will impose liquor ban starting August 6, 2021.

On Monday (August 2, 2021), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Benhur Abalos said that eight local government units in the National Capital Region will implement a liquor ban.

The liquor ban will cover the cities of Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Pasay, Navotas, Pateros, Quezon City, and San Juan starting August 6 during the two-week enhanced community quarantine.

“Sa nakikita namin, ang Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Pasay, Navotas, Pateros, Quezon City, and San Juan, may mga liquor ban,” Abalos said during Palace briefing.

Abalos said that the mayors of the respective towns have agreed to implement the uniform curfew from 8:00 pm until 4:00 am and liquor ban always goes with the curfew policy. He a;sp explained that mayors will still decide if they would impose liquor ban during the ECQ period.

The National Capital Region would be placed under RCQ from August 6 to 20, 2021 due to the increasing cases of the coronavirus disease.

However, the towns of Makati, Taguig, Pasig, and Las Pinas informed MMDA that they would not implement liquor ban during the two-week lockdown.
