Kagawad, Accomplice Yields P3.4M Illegal Drugs During Buy-Bust in Maguindanao

Police authorities arrested a barangay kagawad and his accomplice in a buy-bust operation over P3.4 million worth of illegal drugs.

After being captured with P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a barangay kagawad and another man. The two were apprehended in Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao, during a buy-bust operation.

According to a report from the PDEA-Bangsamoro, the apprehended drug suspects were Farhan Ibra, a 29-year-old resident and kagawad of Barangay Ginaopan in Tamparan, Lanao Del Sur, and his cohort Alinor Taurac, 30, of Marantao in the same province.

Around 2:245 p.m., PDEA agents backed by several police units carried out the operation along the Narciso Ramos Highway in Barangay Tambo. The suspects were apprehended with seven packs containing roughly 500 grams of suspected shabu, the buy-bust money, and a telephone thought to have been used for narcotics transactions.

Various identification cards, a wallet, and the Toyota Revo used by the Ibra and Taurac were also seized, according to the PDEA-Bangsamoro. The couple, who are now being held at the PDEA-Bangsamoro correctional facility, are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law.

Meanwhile, after being bitten in a joint anti-drug operation by the PDEA NCR and the Cubao PNP in Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City, a suspected drug peddler went missing. The suspect, a 42-year-old Pateros resident, went as far as crossing Quezon City to distribute illegal drugs.

The poseur buyer transacted with the suspect on the side of the road using boodle money. He was found with about 500 grams of suspected shabu in a huge zipper storage bag and estimated worth P3.4 million.
