412 Families in Pilar, Bataan Evacuates Due to Massive Flooding Triggered by Habagat

Over 412 families have flee their homes in Pilar, Bataan and proceed to evacuation centers due to the massive flooding.

On Friday (July 30, 2021), Mayor Charilie Pizarro announced that the residents residing near Talisay River have flee their homes and currently stayed at the evacuation centers in Pilar due to flood. The enhanced southwest monsoon triggered the flood.

“Lahat ng mga residente na nasa gilid ng Talisay River ang naapektuhan nitong habagat. Maraming pamilya ang kasalukuyan pa ring nasa evacuation centers na ating tinutulungan. Nasa 412 na pamilya ang nasa evacuation centers sa bayan ng Pilar,” Pizarro said.

Massive Flooding

Pizarro said that the water level at Talisay River start to increase on Thursday early morning. The floodwaters even reached 11 feet and covered the roofs of several houses at Sitio Aquino in Barangay Panilao.

A resident named Mark Dagohoy narrated that he and his fellow villagers did not sleep due to the knee-deep flood. The floodwater increased and even swept several houses in the area but Pilar Fire volunteer immediately respond.

Massive Flooding

The flood also caused a lot of damage on the agricultural sector amounting P1 million, according to the report. Local government employees are roaming around the area to distribute relief goods and medicines.
