Actor, producer, and talent manager Ronnie Henares who portrayed the character of Tommy in Kapuso sitcom Pepito Manaloto reacted to the “Hidilyn my friend” meme.
After the proud moment that Filipinos shared online because of the Olympic win of Pinay weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, memes also surfaced. Netizens shared memes featuring celebrities with the same surname as the athlete.
Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz and comedian-talent manager Ogie Diaz both feel happy to be associated with the recent success of the first-ever Pinay Olympic gold medalist.
Another meme that went viral was the one featuring the character of Tommy who called Hidilyn his “friend”. In the Kapuso sitcom, the character of Ronni Henares is a scoundrel. He always calls people with money as his “friend”.
Since Hidilyn is set to receive a cash reward, a house and lot, and a van, she is indeed richer than before her Olympic win. Ronnie shared his reaction to this meme through his recent Instagram post.
“Somebody is spreading this around! Sa bagay, mahigit nang isang milyon ang utang ko kay Pepito. Siguro naman, sa daming milyon makukuha ni Hidilyn, baka pwede niya ako ibalato ng isang milyon man lang!” Ronnie Henares a.k.a Mang Tommy wrote in the caption of his post.
