House To Pursue COVID-19 Budget Investigation Says Velasco

COVID-19 BUDGET INVESTIGATION – The House of Representatives is set to pursue an investigation into the government’s spending of its COVID-19 budget.

According to House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, the lower chamber still holds the power to oversee the budget spending used for the fight against COVID-19. During an interview with CNN, Velasco stated:

I’m sure we’re going to have few hearings so that the executive will be able to explain and show to us how it spent the budget allotted for addressing the pandemic

Recently, Senator Manny Pacquiao also claimed that there was corruption with regards to the spending of the COVID-19 budget. However, during initial investigations in the Senate, the fighting Senator was already in Las Vegas to prepare for his upcoming bout with Errol Spence Jr.

Still, Velasco did not disclose details as to when the inquiry would take place. But, the House Speaker emphasized that the chamber is open and willing to assist in any and all funding put towards the government’s anti-COVID efforts.

Congress naman is always open for all the help that needs to be given to the executive, ‘yung mga kinakailangan nilang ipasa na legislations, we’re always here to help lalung-lalo na pagka itong kailangan ng taumbayan para panlaban dito sa ating COVID-19 pandemic“, said Velasco.
