Pastor Wanted for Harassment Arrested after Hiding for Over 7 Years

Authorities arrested a pastor who is allegedly wanted for harassment after hiding for over seven years in his church in Oriental Mindoro.

In Oriental Mindoro, a preacher has been arrested on suspicion of regularly harassing a minor member of his congregation. Based on the report, of GMA News, the suspect, Richard Elmin, was apprehended by Zambales Philippine National Police (PNP) officers inside the “church” in Botolan, Zambales.

Based on the police report, Elmin is a preacher and church leader. The latter was arrested after a warrant was issued for his arrest. The defendant allegedly harassed the victim on several occasions, according to the complaint.

According to the Zambales PNP, the suspect harassed her in 2014, and the victim’s parents filed a complaint against him the same year. However, when the complaint was filed, the suspect went into hiding for over 7 years. After years of monitoring, he was tracked down by Zambales officials.

“After na malaman niya na siya ay na-file-an na ng kaso, ang suspek natin ay nagtago na at ito ay pumunta rito sa Zambales kaya hindi siya nakita agad,” said Colonel Roman Cardiño, PD-Zambales PNP.

The suspect has already been handed up to the Oriental Mindoro Police Force. The arrested suspect has declined to make any statement. In conjunction with R.A. 7610, Elmin is charged with five counts of r*pe.
