PNP Denies PH Least Safest Country, Disputes Findings Of Global Finance
PNP DENIES PH LEAST SAFEST COUNTRY – Recently, international magazine Global Finance released its ranking of the safest countries in the world.
The Philippines did make the cut, however, it was ranked first in terms of being unsafe. According to the magazine, they had three fundamental factors in finding out if a country is safe.
These are “war, peace, personal security, natural disaster risk, and factors caused by the pandemic”. However, according to Philippine National Police chief Guillermo Eleazar, the reports were inaccurate.
Furthermore, the boasted that when it comes to crime, the Philippines’ statistic had greatly improved. “Hindi tumutugma ang aming crime statistics sa ranking na ito“, said Eleazar.
Moreover, he emphasized that last year, the PNP releases statistics regarding the crime situation in the country every single day that showed a significant decline in crime rates. Additionally, he stated that the crime volume in the Philippines declined to over half with theft and robbery lowering to 60%.
Along with this, Eleazar said that natural disasters that are out of the government’s control such as Taal Volcano’s eruption and the presence of local insurgent groups also remained a critical factor in the ranking.
Still, he said that the PNP would take the latest published ranking as a challenge to improve the Philippines in terms of peace and security.
